School Eye Screening programs (SSP)
One school eye screening program was conducted at Ananda Bharathi School, Tarnaka, Hyderabad, where 21 children were screened.
World Sight Day 2007
L V Prasad Eye Institute commemorated World Sight Day 2007 by conducting an exhibition and free vision screening program at PRASAD IMAX complex, October 11 – 13 2007. A total of 375 people were screened; 40 were prescribed spectacles and 55 were advised to have a more detailed check-up.

Opticians' Refresher Training
Opticians working in four Service Centres in the districts of Adilabad, Mahboobngar and Prakasam participated in a refresher training program at ICARE, October 5-6, 2007.
DCEH Master’s program
Mr Larry Hulbert from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, was at ICARE to develop a Master’s program in Community Eye Health to be conducted in collaboration from UNSW, Sydney.
Lions – LVPEI Partners meet
Sight First 1141, the Lions – LVPEI capacity building project for the management of diabetic retinopathy in Andhra Pradesh, project committee meeting and partners meet was held on October 18, 2007, at LVPEI. Representatives from 13 hospitals participated in the meet.
CEC & CBR Training Program
The Field Workers Training Program is being conducted in five satellite and one partner centre in four districts of Andhra Pradesh — Adilabad, Mahboobngar, Prakasam and Nellore. In the training program held at ICARE on October 22-27, 2007, 20 people participated.
Toodukurthy Satellite Centre turns nine!
The Kuchukalla Ramachandra Reddy Eye Centre at Toodukurthy celebrated its ninth anniversary on October 24, 2007. This was the second satellite centre of LVPEI, set up on October 24, 1998.

Sight for Kids Project
The Sight for Kids project for 2005 & 2006 external evaluation meeting was held on October 19, 2007, with Ln. Joshua Friedman, Assistant Manager – LCIF, Dr Pararajasegaram, Prof Jill Keeffe, Dr Chandrasekhar Shetty, Technical Adviser, and Mr Amod Gogate of Johnson & Johnson. Ln B R Rao PMCC, Project Chairperson, was also present.
World Diabetes Day Celebration
Inter school competitions were conducted at Government Girls High School, Ongole, on October 25, 2007, on the occasion of World Diabetes Day celebrations. The competitions conducted included essay writing (71 students from 12 private and government schools participated); elocution (21 students from 8 private and government schools) and poster competition (8 students from 3 private and government schools).
Lions Sight First Project -1012
The Comprehensive Capacity Development Project for Lions Eye Hospitals in Andhra Pradesh (SF 1012) has been completed and the final report submitted to Dr Chandra Shekar Shetty and Ln B R Rao. A total of 38 people were trained in the project from six hospitals.
