2008 - LVPEI's Vision Centre approach adapted by the Australian Government in its efforts to develop primary eye care in the Western Pacific region
2007 - A fully functional Village Vision Complex, with a Secondary Care Centre linked to ten primary eye centres (Vision Centres)
2006 - Set up two new tertiary care centres, in Bhubaneswar (Orissa) and Visakhapatnam (north-eastern Andhra Pradesh)
2004 - Recognized as an advanced tertiary care centre operating at all levels of eye health care - primary, secondary, tertiary
2003 - Children's Eye Cancer Centre launched; LVPEI's approach to sustainable Eye care in developing countries adopted as a model by WHO
2002 - Clinical realisation of stem cell research; Ocular Prosthesis Services
2001 - Photo-dynamic Therapy for Age-related Macular Degeneration; WHO - IAPB program for Pediatric Ophthalmology training
2000 - Ocular Oncology Service; Bausch & Lomb School of Optometry at Kismatpur campus outside Hyderabad
1999 - Exclusive facility for supporters; Retinopathy of prematurity screening in neo-natal units
1996 - First exclusive Children's Eye care Centre in the developing world at LVPEI Hyderabad the Jasti V Ramanamma Children's Eye care Center
1995 - First rural satellite set up in Mudhol, Andhra Pradesh
1994 - International Centre for Advancement of Rural Eye care (ICARE) set up to coordinate public health ophthalmology projects
1993 First rural affiliate in Tanuku, Andhra Pradesh
1992 - Vision screening in urban slums
1991 - IOL training; Major collaborative research projects
1990 - Outreach activities begin; First Rehabilitation Centre as an integral part of eye hospital in the country set up
1989 - Contact Lens centre set up
1988 - Ramayamma International Eye Bank set up
1987 - Eye hospital offers comprehensive ophthalmic care to paying and non-paying patients. This is supported by training, research and rehabilitation facilities
1986 - Film producer L V Prasad extends support; Hyderabad Eye Institute and Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation formed
1984 - Indo-American Eye care Society formed to raise funds for a world-class institute in Hyderabad, India
