ICARE has four major areas of work:
- To develop good quality eye care services in the underserved areas of India, as well as in other parts of the developing world;
The CAFE Project
- To train eye care workers at every level required in these areas;
- To participate in planning eye health in the developing world on the basis of reliable epidemiological information and biostatistical research; and
The Refractive Error Study in Children
(RESC)
The Andhra Pradesh Eye Disease Study
(APEDS)
- To act as consultants providing information, training, and the benefit of experience in the field to local, governmental, private or international organisations working to develop eye care in Andhra Pradesh.
