Short-Term Fellowship Program in Low Vision Care

Duration: Three months

Program dates: January, April, July and October

Venue: Vision Rehabilitation Centres, L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India.

Number of Positions: Two per program

Registration fee: Indian rupees 4000

  • Training in use of low vision devices
  • Prescription of low vision devices

The curriculum also includes training in low vision devices – their individual characteristics, advantages and disadvantages; clinical set-ups, resource mobilisation and utilisation. All aspects of rehabilitation – such as counselling, orientation and mobility, daily living skills and support services – will be a practical part of the course. Interaction with patients, their parents and the community is also an integral part of the course.

Minimum qualifications: Diploma in Optometry/Master’s degree or Diplomate from the National Board of Examination in Ophthalmology. Preferably institution based.

Registration details

  • Registration is limited to two persons per program.
  • Food and shared accommodation will be provided.
  • No leave or other benefits.
  • Candidates should make their own travel arrangements.
  • Candidates should pay a registration fee of Rs 4000 by demand draft, payable to Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation along with the application.
