Dr Alfred Chua

Dr Alfred Chua is a senior anaesthetist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. He has > 25 years experience in adult and paediatric ophthalmic anaesthesia. He has conducted many eye block workshops and presented at the 4th World Congress of Ophthalmic Anaesthesia. His other interests are complex orthopaedic surgery and major musculoskeletal tumour.

Prof Chandra M Kumar

I am a Senior Consultant Anaesthetist with academic records with interests in regional, ophthalmic, elderly and colorectal anaesthesia. I am based at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Singapore since March 2011. I worked as Consultant Anaesthetist in The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, UK, since 1987. I was an Honorary Professor of Anaesthesia, School of Health, University of Teesside, Middlesbrough, UK (2004-2014).

Dr Edwin Seet Chuen Ping,

Dr HOWARD D. PALTE, M.D.

Dr. Palte completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Cape Town and served his internship at Groote Schuur Hospital in South Africa. Following a stint at a mine hospital he went on to a 4-year anesthesiology residency at The University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. For the next fourteen years he managed his own anesthesia practice. On emigration to the United States he joined the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Miami. He is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and also director of regional anesthesia for ophthalmic and orthopedic surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. His primary interests include ophthalmic, regional and ambulatory anesthesia. He has numerous publications that address ultrasound and regional blockade, in particular safety issues surrounding ophthalmic anesthesia. His current research includes projects that examine the benefits of ultrasound-guided eye blocks, systemic complications associated with ophthalmic surgery, and patient outcomes after ambulatory surgery.

Dr Oya YALCIN COK, MD

Oya Yalcin Cok MD, EDRA is an associate professor of anaesthesiology at Baskent University, School of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey and currently working as a consultant at Adana Research and Education Center.

She has lectured and conducted workshops on topics related to ophthalmic anaesthesia and regional anaesthesia. She was the organizing secretary of the 3rd World Congress of Ophthalmic Anaesthesia, May 2012, Ankara, Turkey. Her major clinical and educational interests included to ophthalmic anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia and pain therapy.

Dr Tom Eke

I am an ophthalmologist, specialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery. I do nearly all of my surgery under local anaesthesia (LA), using a ‘less is more’ approach. I use topical-intracameral LA for virtually all cataract surgery, subconjunctival-intracameral LA for glaucoma surgery, and either no-snip sub-Tenon’s or sub-conjunctival LA for cyclodiode laser.

Dr Freidrich

Dr. Friedrich Lersch is the head of Berne, Switzerland’s university hospital’s ophthalmology and plastic surgery anaesthesia team. A board certified internist, intensivist and anaesthesiologist, Dr. Lersch’s professional interest centers on the avoidance of post-operative delirium and cognitive decline in elderly patients. Reading current neuroscience and 19th century neurology literature he keenly feels that 21st century neuroscience will change anaesthesiology profoundly in the years to come. Dr. Lersch ist married to a surgeon, with her he raises three sons.

Dr Kumar Belani

Dr. Kumar Belani graduated from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, India in 1974. He was a House-Officer in Anesthesiology at St. Martha’s Hospital until he joined the University of Minnesota in 1976 where he did his Residency in Anesthesiology. In 1979 he completed his M.S. in Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota where he also did his Research Fellowship. He then did a Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology & Critical Care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania that he completed in 1984.
