Cutting Edge 2007
Cutting Edge 2007, the joint annual meeting of the Oculoplastics Association of India (OPAI) and the Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS) was held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Hyderabad, December 13-16, 2007. L V Prasad Eye Institute was the official host for the event.
This is the first Asia Pacific OPRS meeting held in India, and was honored with the official participation of every major Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Society including the ASOPRS (American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), ESOPRS (European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), BOPSS (British Oculoplastic Surgery Society), and ISOO (International Society of Ocular Oncology). Attended by nearly 500 delegates, the international meeting created an awareness of ophthalmic plastics and aesthetics in India and Asia at large. Every continent and major centre in ophthalmic plastics and aesthetics was represented, leading to a strong international faculty of 34 distinguished speakers and a national faculty of over 40 speakers. LVPEI faculty were involved in all aspects of the meeting.
Beginning with a pre-conference Thyroid Eye Disease Symposium and Live Surgery Session on December 13 at LVPEI, the meeting had several unique features like 3-Dimensional Anatomy show, special symposia on Ophthalmic Pathology and Ocularistry, the Oculoplasty quiz, freeze frame photography competition, and a video competition that provided unique education and entertainment! The delegates found the meeting sessions extremely useful and, in addition to new scientific insights, carried back memories of nostalgic moments to cherish!
