Volunteer Services

We need Volunteers
You can make a vital contribution to our efforts by becoming a volunteer. The service provided by volunteers helps us to extend our expertise into the community at large and also provides us vital assistance in programme administration and delivery of rehabilitation services. A volunteer's work may involve reading, writing, teaching Braille, or accompanying visually impaired persons on visits to museums or for cultural programmes.

Broadcast services for the blind
Volunteers record informational and educational material - such as newsletters, instruction manuals and magazines - onto audio tapes for individuals.

General volunteers work primarily at the vision rehabilitation centres. Their work involves reading, teaching Braille, coordinating children's play activities and help organize events for the centre.

How do I become a volunteer?
You will be required to fill out an application form. If found suitable, you will be invited to attend an orientation session. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. However, for some activities, volunteers are required to be at least 18 years old.

Volunteers must make a commitment to work 2-3 hours a week for a minimum period of six months.
