Biography
Umesh Chandra Behera, an alumnus of Sainik School Bhubaneswar and MKCG Medical College in Berhampur, Odisha, earned his master’s in Ophthalmology from MKCG Medical College. He completed a Retina and Vitreous fellowship at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, before joining L V Prasad Eye Institute in 2006. In 2012, he moved to L V Prasad Eye Institute, Bhubaneswar.
His clinical focus is on treating vitreoretinal diseases in both children and adults. He has participated in over 25 international clinical trials related to these conditions and has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed papers. Additionally, he reviews for several global journals and has received awards for his contributions to vitreoretinal literature. His interests include vitreoretinal surgery, diabetic retinopathy, ocular infections, and central serous chorioretinopathy.
Outside of work, he enjoys music, writing, and painting.
