Sri K T Rama Rao, Honourable Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce, and Information Technology, Govt. of Telangana, inaugurated the Poornima & Ramam Atmakuri Technology Centre at L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI)’s Gullapalli Pratibha Rao International Centre for Advancement of Rural Eye Care (GPR ICARE), Kismatpur on 22 September 2021.
The innovation centre is named after Ms Poornima & Mr Ramam Atmakuri, Executive Vice Chair LVPEI, for their immense contribution to the LVPEI especially in advancing the technology to reduce the cost of delivering eye care and making high-quality eye care accessible to millions of people in remote rural areas. The newly inaugurated centre will entail all the technology and innovation work done at LVPEI - product development, re-engineered medical eye care products, scleral lens manufacturing (speciality contact lenses), Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and the Data Science and Healthcare Incubator.
The occasion was also graced by the presence of MP, Dr Ranjith Reddy, MLA, Kale Yadaiah, Ms Poornima and Mr Ramam Atmakuri.
