The most comprehensive study ever undertaken on the weight of the human eye lens by Dr Ashik Mohamed has confirmed that there are two distinct phases to lens growth and provides data that will be critical in the development of treatments for conditions such as cataract and presbyopia. The study, conducted under the supervision of Prof Robert C Augusteyn, Prof Arthur Ho and Dr Virender S Sangwan as part of his PhD research at LVPEI, Brien Holden Vision Institute and University of New South Wales Sydney was published recently in the journal Molecular Vision.
