Humanistic Co-Design for the Visually Impaired

LVPEI Center for Innovation and MIT (Massachusetts) in sponsorship from MIT-India (Massachusetts) and LVPEI hosted a workshop on Humanistic Co-Design for the Visually Impaired (VI) in Hyderabad from 17-19 January 2019. Around 60 design and engineering students were able to directly collaborate with people who have visual disabilities, identify their problems and realize solution by making prototypes ranging from hardware solutions to web based app platform to assist VI users. The participants were mentored by Dr. Kyle Keane, Lecturer and Research Scientist from MIT, who specializes in computational materials science, human-centered design, and engineering technology that helps people with disabilities, along with the teams from LVPEI's Centre for Innovation and Institute for Vision Rehabilitation. The workshop was part of the annual MIT India program by the MIT (Massachusetts) team.
