Anant Bajaj Retina Institute First Anniversary

The Anant Bajaj Retina Institute, an Institute of Excellence and a Global Resource Centre at L V Prasad Eye Institute completed its first year. Named in loving memory of the late Sri Anant Bajaj, this institute has become an integral part of LVPEI. Significant achievements have been made over the past year, particularly the enhanced and expanded retina services at the level of Secondary Centres and Vision Centres (Primary eye care).

Close to 36,800 patients were examined in the outpatient clinics and over 450 retinal surgeries were performed across the secondary centres in the past year. The mobile diagnostic van, Pashyanthu, has been instrumental in providing retinal imaging investigations at secondary centres, and this has facilitated the early detection and treatment of retinal conditions, resulting in better outcomes for patients. Teleconsultation was introduced for screening premature babies for Retinopathy of Prematurity, a potentially blinding condition if not diagnosed and treated in time.
