BaVIS and Pupil.N Move to Market Readiness as CFTI Signs MoU with Forus Health

The Centre For Technology Innovation (CFTI) at L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has achieved a major milestone, with two of its developed technologies — BaVIS (Baby Vision Screener) and Pupil.N (Portable Automated Pupilometer) — officially reaching market-ready status.

On January 27, 2026, LVPEI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Forus Health Private Limited, which will serve as the marketing and production partner for these innovations. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in LVPEI’s effort to advance eye care through accessible, homegrown technologies.

When the technology innovation vertical was established at the CFTI, its mission was clear:
to convert promising ideas from clinicians and engineers into scalable products capable of delivering large‑scale impact in eye care — in India and across the world. The transition of BaVIS and Pupil.N from concept to market readiness reflects the strength of this vision.
Over the coming months, both products are expected to be launched across the Indian market, expanding access to high‑quality, early‑detection tools and strengthening patient care pathways.

This achievement is the result of years of persistent effort by:
Engineers and clinicians, who collaborated closely to refine, test and validate the products.
The entire CFTI team — past and present, whose commitment shaped these innovations from the ground up.
Numerous partners, advisors, and supporters who contributed expertise, resources, and encouragement.
Each contribution has played an essential role in transforming these technologies from prototypes into market-ready solutions that can reach clinics, communities, and families.

As these technologies move into the hands of practitioners, they hold the potential to:
Improve early screening and diagnosis
Enhance clinical efficiency
Increase access to high‑quality, affordable eye care
Strengthen India’s leadership in ophthalmic innovation
This milestone embodies LVPEI’s long-standing commitment to combining science, technology, and compassion to transform lives.
