On March 17, 2026, a 15-member student delegation from the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University spent time at the LVPEI Quaternary Eye Care centre in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, examining how a high-volume, high-impact healthcare system runs on the ground.
Led by Dean Prof Sanjay Ramachander, the group’s visit, part of a Business Immersion Program, provided access to LVPEI’s clinical and research infrastructure, with a closer look at how advanced care, training, and innovation are built into a single operational ecosystem.
In a closing session, Dr Prashant Garg, Executive Chair, outlined the mechanics behind the institute’s pyramidal model, where scale, specialization, and community-level access are structurally linked. He also unpacked the cross-subsidy framework that underpins LVPEI’s affordability strategy, and its positioning in corneal transplantation and vision research globally. The conversation extended beyond clinical care, pointing to a broader system that integrates education, rehabilitation, and rural outreach offering a working example of how equity in healthcare can be designed, not just discussed.
