Dr Brijesh Takkar inducted into Editorial Board of 'International Ophthalmology'

Dr Brijesh Takkar, Consultant Ophthalmologist for Vitreo-Retinal Diseases at the L V Prasad Eye Institute, has been admitted into the Editorial Board of 'International Ophthalmology,' a leading peer-reviewed journal that publishes basic and clinical science research across subspecialties of ophthalmology worldwide.

In his new role, Dr Brijesh Takkar will contribute to the evaluation of submitted research, help guide scientific priorities, and uphold the integrity of published work. Reflecting on the appointment, he noted that the journal’s long publishing legacy spanning over 40 volumes, makes this an important opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of clinical ophthalmic science.

Sharing on how his clinical experiences have changed his editorial perspective, Dr Brijesh said, 'Our experience with patients keeps guiding us to understanding the relevance of research and the significance of the research question. A lot of research is unfortunately not patient-centric, and our experience in clinics shows us how to choose outcome measures that would be acceptable to the public at large.'

He also highlighted the global and regional diversity of the Editorial Board, which includes established researchers from the Asia-Pacific region. 'This is a particularly exciting part of the appointment, which gives me an opportunity to develop skills into critical analysis of research that has a global perspective, with alignment to our own region.'

'International Ophthalmology' is known for its rigorous peer-review process and commitment to advancing ophthalmic science, with a strong  and champions innovation in areas like AI-assisted diagnostics, gene therapies, and smart ophthalmic devices.
