Dr Subhadra Jalali, Chief Guest at the Women’s Day 2021 organised by Women’s Cell, ASL

Dr Subhadra Jalali, Director, Newborn Eye Health Alliance (NEHA), Director, Retina Institute, and Director, Quality, L V Prasad Eye Institute Network, was the Chief Guest at the Women’s Day 2021 organised by Women’s Cell, Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL), the lab synonymous with the famed Agni missile systems of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The event started with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest. Present on the dais were Dr.M.R.M.Babu, Distinguished Scientist & Director, ASL, Smt.M.Usha Rani, First Lady of ASL, and Smt. R.Sheena Rani, Chairperson, Women’s cell. Dr. Jalali was invited to share her rich experience on the occasion.

As a woman who broke the glass ceiling, Dr. Jalali was lauded for her exemplary life. Addressing the gathering of 100 eminent scientists, Dr. Subhadra Jalali explained how she led her life against all odds, escaping from war-torn Kashmir to becoming a prominent lady surgeon in the field of ophthalmology. On behalf of Women’s Cell ASL, Dr Jalali was felicitated by Smt Shankari, Scientist ‘F’, Smt.Kanthi Rekha Wurity, Scientist ‘F’, and Smt. R.Sheena Rani, Scientist ‘G’, for her significant contributions to the field of medicine and society. A lady of high energy and good spirits, Dr.Jalali regaled the scientists during high tea. All in all, Dr. Jalali made a remarkable impression on this gathering of eager listeners from the field of defence, science and technology.
