On April 17, 2026 the LVPEI Mithu Tulsi Chanrai (MTC) Campus in Bhubaneswar inaugurated the Vocational Training Centre - an initiative aimed at creating livelihood opportunities for visually impaired individuals and those with limited formal education.
The Centre was inaugurated by Dr Beula Christy, Head of the Rehabilitation Network, and Dr Umesh Chandra Behera, Campus Head at MTC, in the presence of Dr Debasmita Majhi, Rehabilitation In-charge at MTC, along with rehabilitation staff and team members.
Supported by Smt Agadi Pratibha and Sri Agadi Krishna from Bengaluru, the Centre will focus on training individuals with the technical skills required to create a diverse range of products.
The list of products are (not limited to):
- Cloth and Tote Bags
- Laptop and Lunch Bags
- Shopping and Gift Bags
- Pouches in various sizes
- Office folders and files
- Jewellery
- Candles
- Coffee Mugs
- Potted Plants
- and, Embroidered and Printed Shirts
This initiative is designed to build skills, while simultaneously promoting financial independence. Individuals trained at the new Vocational Training Centre in Bhubaneswar will receive a share of the proceeds from product sales, reinforcing dignity through earned income and enabling greater self-reliance.
Donors, Smt Agadi Pratibha and Sri Agadi Krishna, joined via a video call, where they congratulated the LVPEI team on establishing the Centre and appreciated the dedication of the leadership and staff in bringing this initiative to life.
Dr Beula Christy expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of LVPEI to the donor, emphasizing how their generous contribution is creating a meaningful impact in the lives of differently-abled individuals by enabling opportunities for skill development and self-reliance.
