Institute network to raise awareness among the public about various eye diseases in children.

Every year, Children’s Eye Care Awareness Week is observed across the L V Prasad Eye Institute network to raise awareness among the public about various eye diseases in children.

This year, Children’s Eye Care Awareness Week was observed across the network from November 10–16, 2025, with the theme, Myopia Awareness.

The week-long celebrations began with various competitions (creative activities, balance-and-coordination games, and many more) for visiting patients, school children, and children of LVPEI’s employees.

At the Quaternary Eye Care Institute at the Kallam Anji Reddy campus in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, we observed major participation from the students of the Hillmen and the Richmond Schools. We celebrated the winners in an intimate event held on November 13, 2025 where prizes were distributed to the winners.

The celebrations in Hyderabad concluded on November 16, 2025 with an awareness walk from the Kallam Anji Reddy Campus to KBR Park and back. Participants cheered myopia slogans and waved placards to create awareness about myopia; urging children to spend time outdoors to prevent/slow the onset of Myopia. The walk was graced by students and faculty from Hill Men High School in Banjara Hills, NTR Model School in Gandipet, and Vignana Jyothi Public School in Madhura Nagar.

Similar week-long activities were also held at our Tertiary Eye Care Centres. Namely, the Kode Venkatadri Chowdary campus in Vijayawada, the GMR Varalakshmi campus in Visakhapatnam, the Rajasekhara Reddy campus in Kadapa, and the Mithu Tulsi Chanrai campus in Bhubaneshwar, which saw participation by hundreds of students from nearby schools.

We are thankful to all our participants across the states who helped create awareness on myopia, its signs and symptoms, causes, the importance of early detection and treatment, and why parents must seek timely medical advice.
