Two of LVPEI’s senior clinicians have been recognised by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) at its 2025 Annual Meeting for their outstanding contributions to the field.
Dr Muralidhar Ramappa, a senior faculty member at LVPEI, has been honoured with the Senior Achievement Award. This prestigious recognition is awarded to ophthalmologists who have demonstrated over 15 years of consistent and impactful involvement in education, scientific advancement, and service within the AAO and the broader ophthalmic community. Dr Ramappa dedicated the award to the institute and acknowledged the mentorship, collaboration, and trust that have shaped his journey at LVPEI.
Dr Senthil Sirisha, Head of the VST Centre for Glaucoma Care, received the Best of Show Award for her surgical video titled ‘Surgical Management of Refractory Hypotony Following a Suprachoroidal Shunt Implant.’ This recognition is awarded to exceptional video submissions that represent the highest standards of surgical innovation and education in ophthalmology.
Raghava Chary, Consultant Optometrist, received the Grand Prize for Anterior Segment for his image titled Iris Melanoma in the AAO Comprehensive Eye Care Section Photo Contest.
These international honours underscore LVPEI’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, clinical innovation, and the global advancement of eye care.
