The LVPEI team made a significant mark at the 13th Annual Conference of the Cornea Society of India – KERACON 2025, held from December 19-21, 2025 in Goa. Team LVPEI from across the network were honored with multiple accolades:
- Dr Swetha Buggareddigari, Fellow, Cornea & Anterior Segment, was awarded the First Prize under the Slit Lamp category for her photo titled 'A Quiet Coil: The Eye’s Unwanted Memory.' She was also awarded the Second Prize under the category Eye as Art for her photo titled 'Whorls of Rebellion: When the Epithelium Crosses the Line.'
- Dr Shreya Chandra, Fellow, Cornea & Anterior Segment, was awarded the First Prize under the category External for her photo titled 'Crystal Dome of the Iris.'
- Dr Sohini Mandal, Consultant Ophthalmologist, received the Second Prize under the catergory Slit Lamp for her photo titled 'Through the Fire and Fog: A View of Neovascular Cataract.'
Physical Poster
- Dr Anubha Rathi, Consultant Ophthalmologist, received the First Prize for her poster titled ‘Longitudinal Evaluation of Failed Sequential Full-thickness Corneal Grafts - A Clinico-pathological Correlation.’
- Dr Sowjanya Vuyyuru, Consultant Ophthalmologist, was awarded the Second Prize for her poster titled ‘Risk Factors and Visual Outcomes in Pediatric Pterygium: A Retrospective Analysis.’
Free Paper
- Dr Pragnya Rao Donthineni, Consultant Ophthalmologist, was honored with the First Prize under the category of Ocular Surface Diseases (Clinical) for her paper titled 'Investigating autonomic contributors to symptoms of dry eye and ocular pain.'
Apart from competitions and presentations, the team from LVPEI also set up two interactive stalls to interact with doctors and other allied healthcare professionals about the applications and future opportunities of the projects. These were the the Boston-Sight Scleral Lens stall, and the SightConnect stall along with Infosys.
Dr Pravin Vaddavalli, Director of The Shantilal Shanghvi Cornea Institute at LVPEI is also the President of the Cornea Society of India.
