LVPEI Dominates IJO Appreciation Awards 2025

LVPEI ophthalmologists secured three 'Appreciation of IJO' awards for exceptional 2025 papers in the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (IJO). These honors spotlight innovations and research advancing eye care across India.

Leber Congenital Amaurosis Research
Drs Abhishek Upadhyaya, Srikanta Kumar Padhy (LVPEI), Nithin Teja, Goura Chattannavar (LVPEI), Shreya Dutta, Venkatesh Pochaboina, Jeyapoorani Balasubramanian, Chitra Kannabiran (LVPEI), Brijesh Takkar (LVPEI), Manjushree Bhate (LVPEI), and Subhadra Jalali (LVPEI) authored 'Leber congenital amaurosis: A clinical and genetic study from a tertiary eye care center' (IJO, 73(5):683-690, May 2025). The study examines genetic variants and phenotypes in 50+ patients using NGS. Recognized for Appreciation of IJO, the study bolsters precision diagnostics at tertiary centers like LVPEI.

DSAEK Graft Outcomes
Drs Aravind Roy, Tanvi Mudgil, Nikita Das, Megana Peddi (LVPEI), and Sunita Chaurasia (LVPEI) reported 'Clinical outcomes of DSAEK with pre-cut grafts of thickness more than 150 microns' (IJO, 73(7):1027-1030). Findings show high graft survival and visual recovery in 80 cases. This LVPEI contribution earned IJO Appreciation for practical corneal advancements.

Coats Disease in Pediatrics
Drs Saarang Hansraj, Subhadra Jalali (LVPEI), and Vishal Raval (LVPEI) detailed 'Coats disease in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers: Clinical presentation and treatment outcomes' (IJO, 73(5):672-678, May 2025). The cohort study reveals high-risk features and anti-VEGF/laser efficacy in young children. Awarded Appreciation of IJO, it addresses diagnostic delays in India.
