L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) had the privilege of welcoming over 35 employees from S&P Global as part of their Global Volunteer Week. The team spent the day at our Institute for Vision Rehabilitation, engaging in activities that showcased the creativity, abilities, and resilience of people with vision impairment.
As part of the program, a tactile art workshop was organized where the volunteers created simple artworks while blindfolded. This activity helped them experience how touch, texture, and spatial awareness become key elements of artistic expression for someone who is visually imparired. The volunteers were also introduced to Spacefelt, a QR-based tagging system that supports visually impaired individuals in identifying their personal belongings through audio cues via a mobile app.
The program concluded with cultural performances by our students, which were met with heartfelt appreciation. Volunteers shared reflections on the value of eyesight, expressed admiration for the talent and determination of people with vision impairment, and emphasized the importance of such programs as part of employee volunteering.
