L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) inaugurated its 278th Vision Centre on June 30, 2025, in Mandadam, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. This centre is a key part of LVPEI’s eye health pyramid and marks a new benchmark in technology-enabled, community-based eye care.
The Mandadam Vision Centre is a permanent, free walk-in facility offering comprehensive eye care services to residents of Mandadam and neighboring villages. Equipped for both anterior and posterior segment examinations, the centre also enables teleconsultations with experts at LVPEI’s tertiary and quaternary centres in Hyderabad, based on clinical need.
A trained Vision Technician will conduct undilated eye exams and perform diagnostic tests for conditions like glaucoma and retinal diseases. The centre also offers home care services for individuals with mobility or health constraints.
This launch aligns with the rollout of LVPEI’s Universal Eye Health Program across 29 villages in the Amaravathi region. Locally recruited vision guardians will screen households and guide patients to the centre when needed.
The centre is open Monday–Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
