The District Collector of Bhadradri Kothagudem in Telanagana, Mr Jitesh V Patil joined the N-Bless (ROP Project) district staff training program in Palwancha, mobilizing over 150 participants. The speakers included LVPEI faculty and experts from Nilofer and Fernandez Hospitals.
Speaking with the media at the event, District Collector Jithesh V Patel stated that blindness in newborns must be eradicated, and emphasized that efforts to eliminating blindness in the district have shown good progress. He highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and treatment in preventing blindness in newborns, adding that the Health Department must intensify awareness programs to ensure parents bring their infants for screening on time.
As part of the project, 34 screening centers have been set up across the district, and the government is implementing several innovative initiatives with a goal of eradicating blindness by 2030.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr Swarna Latha, Deputy DMHO Dr. Ramu, Program Manager Shankar, representatives from LV Prasad Eye Institute, Dr. Srilakshmi from the District Hospital, and others also participated in the program.
