Seva Partners Meeting: Catalysing advancements in the Indian Eye Health Ecosystem

The Seva Partners Meeting was jointly organized by L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), Seva Foundation, and Vivekananda Mission Ashram Netra Niramay Niketan (VMANNN). It was hosted at LVPEI's MTC Campus in Bhubaneswar from April 11th to 13th, 2024. This three-day event brought together 68 participants from 24 partner hospitals across 12 states, marking a crucial step in our collective efforts towards improving eye health—the conference aimed to promote sustainability and equity in eye care, improving last-mile delivery and patient outcomes. 

At the heart of the Seva Partners Meeting was a spirit of collaboration and collective learning. During the brainstorming and knowledge-sharing session, the hospitals presented their performance, shared their achievements, and explored their challenges. The aim was not just limited to identifying opportunities in eye health and approaching challenges but to do so collectively, leveraging the insights and expertise of all participants.

Sessions covered a range of topics:

      -  Quality and Patient Safety by Ms Anshu Bhargava and Dr Subhadra Jalali, From LVPEI
      -  Elderly Care by Ms Rekha Gunturu, LVPEI
      -  Operation Research by Dr Srinivas Marmamula and Dr Rohit Khanna, LVPEI
      -  Opportunities for Improving Eye Health and Trends from India by Mr Kuldeep Singh, Seva Foundation
      -  Patient Communication and Clinical Quality by Dr Asim Sil (VMANNN)
      -  Effective Eye Hospital Management by Dr Rajesh Saini, Vision 2020 India
      -  New Ways of Learning by Mr Arun Acharya, Seva Foundation
      -  Importance of Compliances and Financial Management by CAs Dr Subhajit Sahoo and Menka Sahoo
      -  Leaders from over 20 hospitals in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal also presented on hospital-level performance, quality, and excellence.

The LVPEI Mithu Tulsi Chanrai team, led by the head of the campus, Dr Srikanth Sahu, showcased best practices and innovative solutions in eye care service delivery through live demonstrations. The meeting provided:

      -  A strategic platform for sharing experiences.
      -  Strengthening collaboration.
      -  Exchanging knowledge and ideas to ensure sustained impact and innovation in eye care services across partner hospitals.

Dr Rohit Khanna, Director, Gullapalli Pratibha Rao International Centre for Advancement of Rural Eye Care, LVPEI, Dr Asim Sil, Medical Director, VMANNN, Mr Kuldeep Singh, Asia Director Seva Foundation, Dr Rajesh Saini, President, Vision 2020 India and many other prominent names in Eye health in India were present in this meeting, shared their experiences and troubleshoot the challenges and inspired the newbies to upgrade Eye health to best of the standard globally.
