An ophthalmic plastic surgery and orbit workshop ‘Cutting Edge’ was held at LVPEI’s Visakhapatnam campus from 6-7 July 2019. Dr Peter Dolman, a visiting clinical Professor from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada enthralled the participants with his keynote speech on ‘Optic nerve sheath fenestration and thyroid eye disease’. Talks were also delivered by Dr Usha Kim, Head Orbit, Oculoplasty and Oncology, Aravind Eye Hospital on ‘Orbital surgery’ and by Dr Bipasha Mukherjee, Director, Orbit, Oculoplasty, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Services, Sankara Nethralaya on ‘Management of Vascular Lesions of the Orbit’. Dr Veena Noronha, Consultant and Head, VRR Scan Centre, Chennai took a session on the importance of DWI imaging in orbital masses. Other major attractions were the first-of-its-kind surgical hands-on workshop on ‘NEN-DCR’ and the workshop on ‘Botulinum Toxin and Fillers’. Around 100 delegates attended the workshop, including 20 participants through webinar.
One major highlight was the cover release of the book ‘Surgery in Thyroid Eye Diseases’ written by Dr Suryasnata Rath and Dr Milind Naik, and published by Springer. Dr Dolman did the honour of releasing the cover of the book.
