LVPEI Shines at the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry Conference 2025

The LVPEI team left a remarkable mark at the Association of School and College of Optometry Conference (ASCON) 2025, held at Hyderabad from 31 Oct to 2 Nov, 2025, earning multiple accolades across research, education, and student competitions.

In a proud moment for the institute, Dr Vijaya Gothwal was honoured with the Living Legend Award by the Association for Schools and Colleges of Optometry, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the profession.

Our Optometry faculty members received the following awards:

- Ruby Kala Prakasam won Best Oral Presentation in the category of Contact Lens
for her presentation titled ‘Effectiveness of Game-Based Learning in Educating Undergraduate Optometry Students on Contact Lens Adverse Events’.

- Souvik Bhunia won Best Oral Presentation in the category of Sports Vision and Occupational Optometry for his presentation titled ‘Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Optometry Students Regarding YouTube as a Learning Resource’.

- Jhansi Priyanka Poosa won Best Oral Presentation in the category of Public Health & Community Optometry for her presentation titled ‘Feasibility of Using ChatGPT in Supporting Faculty Grading of Optometry Student Scripts’. In the same category, Vijay Kumar Yelagondula received Runner-up in the category of Public Health & Community Optometry for his presentation titled ‘Effectiveness of Consuming Knowledge Consciously (CKC) as an Active Learning Approach in Optometry Training’.

This year also marked a milestone with eight LVPEI faculty presenting education research for the first time at ASCON! They also contributed to key panel discussions and workshops, strengthening LVPEI’s academic leadership.

Adding to the celebrations, Optometry students Madem Guru Pranathi (Batch of 2022), Sayee Ram S (Batch of 2023), and Anant Lalwani (Batch of 2024) won the National Quiz Competition, triumphing over 10 teams from across India!
