Children’s Eye Care Week 2018

‘Less screen time, more outdoor activities for better child eye health’ was the theme of the Children’s Eye Care Week celebrated across the LVPEI network from 11 – 16 November 2018. Several activities including awareness walk, drawing competitions, interactive forums for children and their parents, along with other fun activities were organized to raise awareness on children’s eye health. The key highlights of the week were:-
- Actress Mahie Gill was the brand ambassador for the activities that were organized at the Hyderabad campus.
- City-based famous paediatrician, Dr P Suchitra, flagged off the walk at the Visakhapatnam campus. Yoga sessions were also part of this walk.
- Local MLA, Mr Bode Prasad, was the chief guest for the awareness walk at the Vijayawada campus.
- Children from various schools and orphanage centres participated in the drawing competition that was held at the Bhubaneswar campus.
- School screening programs and awareness talks were organized by the Institute’s Secondary Centre in Rajgangpur.
- As part of the Chemtech-LVPEI community-based eye health program, a parent awareness session and spectacle distribution for the students of the Andhra University English Medium High School at Visakhapatnam was organized. Additionally, low vision and assistive device were distributed at the Regional Centre for Children and Youth with Disabilities.
