Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik launched the Urban Slum Eye Screening and HomeCare programs at the Mithu Tulsi Chanrai Campus in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Both the programs are important initiatives toward strengthening Universal Eye Health Coverage and making quality eye care services affordable and accessible to the communities at their doorsteps. A special focus will be on the vulnerable population – the elderly, women, children and people with special needs.
– Urban Slum Eye Screening Program: Supported by Infosys Foundation, it will focus on providing primary eye care to 40,000 people in Bhubaneswar, including teleophthalmology and referral to the main campus for further management of the eye problem (as per need).
– HomeCare Service: Will be offered within a radius of 20 km from the campus in Bhubaneswar. In continuation to LVPEI’s ‘Go Green’ initiatives, Electric Scooters having 0% Co2 emission are being used for this program.
