About Champalimaud Symposium
The annual Champalimaud Symposium (supported by the Champalimaud Foundation) brings together global stalwarts in the field of ocular and non-ocular research. Held every year at the L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, on the first weekend of February, the hallmark of this symposium includes the Champalimaud Oration along with keynote lectures, highlighting the research activities of the institute.
The Champalimaud Foundation, based in Lisbon, Portugal, is a global leader in scientific and technological innovation and aims to bring the benefits of science to the needy by creating an environment for the development of advanced biomedical research programmes and for supplying translational, interdisciplinary clinical care. Through its activities, the Foundation caters to preventing, diagnosing and treating disease and thereby increases society’s awareness of human health problems.
The L V Prasad Eye Institute has been the beneficiary of a long-standing research collaboration with the Champalimaud Foundation and established the Champalimaud Translational Centre for Eye Research (C-TRACER) in 2007.
C-TRACER’s research activities have an overarching goal of clinical translation from bench to bedside to community.
