Hyderabad, India: The L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has once again demonstrated its global leadership in ophthalmology research. The prestigious 2025 Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List, released recently, recognize the top-performing researchers worldwide based on standardized citation metrics.
Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder Chair – LVPEI is second in the top lifetime rankings for ophthalmology in India. This recognition is based on his career-long research impact and annual performance in 2024, reaffirming his status as India's leading scientist in ophthalmology.
The Stanford/Elsevier rankings identify scientists in the top 2% globally, evaluated by career-long and single-year citation data. For 2025, an impressive 61 Indian ophthalmologists made the annual rankings, with 16 affiliated to LVPEI, reflecting the growing excellence and international standing of LVPEI research.
