154 Get Eye Checks at US Embassy Health Fair in Monrovia

On September 9, 2026, L V Prasad Eye Institute’s (LVPEI) collaborative center at the John F Kennedy Memorial Medical Center in Monrovia, the Liberia Eye Centre (LEC) participated in a Health Fair organized at the Health Unit, Bureau of Medical Services, U.S. Embassy in Monrovia.
As part of the program, LEC provided comprehensive eye care services alongside education to Embassy members. Coordinated by Dr Alison J Forney, M.D., MPH, Regional Medical Officer, the LEC outreach team provided vision examinations and intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements for a total of 154 participants.
The LEC team also conducted counselling and awareness sessions on key aspects of eye health, including:
- Ocular trauma and appropriate eye-care practices
- Contact lens care and safety
- Computer Vision Syndrome and preventive measures
- General eye-health awareness
The event provided an opportunity to encourage greater awareness of eye health and the importance of timely eye examinations and appropriate eye-care practices. The US Embassy appreciated LEC’s participation and partnership in promoting the health and well-being of its staff.
