Prof Yasuo Tano Travel Grant at APVRS 2026

Dr Akash Belenje, Consultant Ophthalmologist, has been awarded the Prof Yasuo Tano Travel Grant for Young Retina Specialists at the 19th Asia-Pacific Vitreo-Retina Society (APVRS) Congress, held from August 28–30, 2026 in Gold Coast, Australia.
The Prof Yasuo Tano Travel Grant is offered by APVRS to support young vitreoretinal specialists attending its annual Congress. For the 2026 Congress, Dr Belenje received the grant in recognition of his scientific contributions presented, which included four presentations:
- Oral Fundus Fluorescein Angiography for detecting reactivation post anti-VEGF treatment in Aggressive Retinopathy of Prematurity
- Anemia Correction in Retinopathy of Prematurity
- Surgical Management of Acute Neonatal Candida Endophthalmitis
- Surgical Management of Bleb-like Retinopathy of Prematurity
Dr Belenje has also previously received the Travel Grant at the 17th APVRS Congress in Singapore in 2024, for his work titled, ‘Impact of Simultaneous Aggressive Anaemia Correction and Intravitreal Therapy for Aggressive Retinopathy of Prematurity: AROP Multimodal Assessment Study’.
