The Infosys Foundation Eye Bank at the Raja Sekhara Reddy Campus in Kadapa is the fifth in the LVPEI eye bank network. Infosys Foundation provided the equipment required for the eye bank, while LVPEI provided the infrastructure. The eye bank will source voluntary eye donations and donations through the Hospital Cornea Retrieval Program (HCRP) initiated at the Government General Hospital in Kadapa. It will cater to the cornea transplant requirements in the region and beyond.
Dr Sreedhar Cherukuri, District Collector and Magistrate of YSR (Kadapa) district inaugurated the eye bank. Mr Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar, Executive Vice President – Finance, Infosys Ltd and trustee of Infosys Foundation and Ms Manisha Saboo, Head –Infosys Foundation joined the inaugural ceremony online.
Dr Prashant Garg, Executive Chairman-LVPEI; Dr Pravin Krishna Vaddavalli, Network Director - Technology & Communications @ LVPEI; Mr Ramam Atmakuri, Executive Vice Chair Emeritus-LVPEI; Dr Kavya Madhuri Bejjanki, Campus Head - Raja Sekhara Reddy Campus; and Mr Hari Hariharan, Network Associate Director - Eye Bank were also present at the inauguration.
Delivering his speech, Dr Sreedhar Cherukuri, District Collector observed, 'The Infosys Foundation Eye Bank at LVPEI’s Kadapa campus is a valuable addition to the district’s healthcare infrastructure. It will make available much needed corneas for transplant and transform countless lives.'
