Sri Sathya Sai District, November 3, 2025: L V Prasad Eye Institute inaugurated the Neelakantapuram Shantha & Jayaram Eye Centre its 29th secondary eye care centre at Neelakantapuram village, Madakasira Mandal, in Sri Satya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh.
The centre is spread over 2.88 acres of prime land abutting National Highway 544E at Neelakantapuram Village, with a built-up area of 13,360 square feet. The land was generously donated by the family of Sri Neelakantapuram Raghuveera Reddy garu. The state-of-the-art secondary level eye care facility brings high-quality, comprehensive, and affordable eye care services to nearly one million people in and around Madakasira mandal and the border villages of Karnataka.
The facility is equipped with a full range of diagnostic and treatment facilities including:
- Outpatient clinic
- Inpatient ward
- Operating room complex
- Administrative and support areas
A well-trained team of clinical and non-clinical staff, many recruited from the local community, will deliver the full spectrum of eye care services including:
- Comprehensive eye examinations
- Ophthalmic diagnostics
- Surgical and laser treatments
- Management of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and eye infections
- Community eye screening programs
- Low vision and rehabilitation services
- 24-hour emergency eye care
All services will be provided at no cost to the economically underprivileged, ensuring equitable access to eye care for all. The Neelakantapuram Shantha & Jayaram Eye Centre at Neelakantapuram village, Madakasira Mandal will make eye care accessible and available in one of the most remote and underserved areas of the district. The patients who need advanced and expert eye care will be referred to the LVPEI Rajashekara Reddy campus in Kadapa.
The Neelakantapuram Shantha & Jayaram Eye Centre will be the referral for the proposed 10 vision centres. With this new facility, LVPEI continues its journey to restore vision and hope in the lives of people, by taking world-class eye care closer to communities that need it the most.
