Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, October 26, 2025: L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) inaugurated its 279th Primary Care Vision Centre at Vanguru Village, Pedavegi Mandal, in the Eluru District of Andhra Pradesh, today. The new facility is housed at the Kasaraneni Gopalakrishnaiah Campus, in Vanguru Village, Pedavegi Mandal.
The Vision Centre was established with the generous support of Smt K. Damayanthi, a retired IAS officer (W/o Sri K. Raju, also a retired IAS officer) and Sri K. Vidyasagar. The centre is strategically developed to bring comprehensive and high-quality eye care closer to the communities of Vanguru Village and surrounding areas. In line with LVPEI’s pyramidal care model and its commitment to universal eye health, the vision centre is connected to the Kode Venkatadri Chowdary Campus at Vijayawada. This enables seamless referral of patients and availability of advanced eye care access, as and when required.
Key features of the vision centre and future plans for the Kasaraneni Gopalakrishnaiah Campus include:
- Launch of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) services
- Phased development of the Secondary Level Eye Care Centre
- Establishment of a Vision Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind, Low Vision and Vision Plus Needs
- Introduction of a Transitional Skills Development Centre
- Development of a Mobility & Sensory Stimulation Park for inclusive community engagement
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder-Chair, LVPEI, remarked:
