The foundation stone of L V Prasad Eye Institute’s Hetero Eye Centre at Sircilla to be laid

Sircilla, August 13, 2019: The foundation stone of L V Prasad Eye Institute’s Hetero Eye Centre at Sircilla will be laid today at 4 30 pm by Sri K T Ramarao garu, MLA, Sircilla and Dr Partha Saradhi Reddy garu, Chairman, Hetero group. 

This Hetero Eye Centre at Sircilla is supported by the generous donation of the Hetero Foundation, Hyderabad. The centre will be continuum to LVPEI’s vision of providing good quality, permanent and affordable eye care for rural India. 

The centre in Siricilla will be constructed on one acre of prime land with 15,000 sft built up area in Phase I of its development. It is equipped with modern medical equipment and well trained staff to deliver excellent and equitable comprehensive eye care services on a sustainable basis, aiming to eliminate avoidable blindness in the region.

Some facts regarding the Hetero Eye Centre, Sircilla 

The centre is designed to:

  • Serve the population of the entire district of 0.5  million
  • See 20,000 out-patients every year from year 3 onwards
  • Perform 3,000 surgeries every year from the year 3 onwards
  • Undertake preventive eye care programmes
  • Provide community based rehabilitation services
  • Serve as a site for epidemiological studies
  • Serve as an eye donation center

Services offered:

This eye care facility will be a part of the LVPEI network and provide high quality comprehensive eye care services to all, irrespective of their socio-economic status. The centre will provide high quality eye care services to all those in need around Rajanna Sircilla District, catering to both paying and non paying patients, wherein patients who can afford to pay are charged according to their ability to pay, in a three-tier fee structure that cross subsidizes the patients who cannot afford to pay, while ensuring equitable quality of services to all.

This eye care centre will provide.

a) Prevention programs

  • Eye health promotion 
  • School screening programs in all the schools along with vision centers
  • Community screening programs along with the vision centers
  • Coordination of all linkages with community health programs

b) Treatment

  • Diagnosis and medical treatment of all eye diseases
  • Surgical services up to secondary level such as cataract, lacrymal sac, trauma, a few glaucoma and other minor surgical procedures
  • Referral to tertiary centre at Hyderabad for all complicated procedures

c) Rehabilitation for the vision impaired

  • Low vision services
  • Community based rehabilitation and Service centre based rehabilitation
