Manju Bhate completed her post-graduation in ophthalmology from Pune. This was followed by advanced training in Comprehensive Ophthalmology from Sydney, a long-term fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus from the Children’s Hospital Westmead in Sydney and a short-term training from the Akron Children’s Hospital in the USA.
Dr Bhate brings along with her vast and varied experience. In the past, she has worked at the John Hunter & Children’s hospital, New South Wales as Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismologist. As part of a voluntary project, she was also actively involved in settling-up paediatric eye care services at Myanmar in South East Asia and in training local Ophthalmologists there.
Manju is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Strabismus Society, World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the All India Ophthalmic Society. She has presented widely at local and international conferences and her main areas of interest are Paediatric cataract, Strabismus, Genetic eye diseases, Paediatric neuro-ophthalmology and Retinopathy of Prematurity. Dr Bhate is involved in clinical research and currently serves as a Reviewer for the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology.
