Dr Swathi Shiva completed MBBS from Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences, Karimnagar, followed by her Diploma in Ophthalmology from Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Hyderabad, and her Secondary DNB from Anand Eye Institute, Hyderabad. She then pursued a long-term fellowship in cataract surgery from Sharat Maxivision Eye Hospital, Warangal.
Before joining LVPEI, she worked as a DMO at Yashoda Hospital, General Ophthalmologist at Mahalaxmi Eye Hospital, Hyderabad, and Senior Resident at TRR Medical College, Patancheru.
Dr Swathi is highly skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular and systemic diseases. Her focus lies in cataract procedures like phacoemulsification (topical) and manual SICS, cataract surgery in small pupils, zonular dehiscence, hard cataracts, and more. She is also experienced in tarsorrhaphy, chalazion incision and damage, pterygium surgery, corneal tear repairs, lid repairs, and foreign body removal.
She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and delivered papers and poster presentations at various state and national-level conferences. She was awarded the first prize in the Dr Gangadhar Reddy Quiz Competition at the Telangana State Ophthalmic Conference, 2013.
