Biography
Dr Aravind Roy completed his basic medical education and internship from MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. He then underwent a fellowship in comprehensive ophthalmology and cornea and anterior segment from LVPEI.
He worked as a Consultant at the Priyamvada Birla Aravind Eye Hospital, Kolkata, and LVPEI’s Nava Bharat Eye Center, Paloncha, before joining the Kode Venkatadri Chowdary campus in Vijayawada.
His areas of interest include diseases of the cornea and anterior segment, uvea, ocular surface, refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, and laser surgery), Phakic intraocular lenses (ICL), lamellar corneal surgery (DALK, DSEK), keratoconus, corneal collagen crosslinking, cataract, and corneal transplantation. His research focuses on corneal pathology, cataract, and refractive surgery.
Dr Roy has several papers, videos, and poster presentations to his credit. He is the recipient of the Amjad Rahi Award for the best poster presentation in clinical sciences at the Indian Eye Research Group meeting in 2010. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals.
