Biography
Dr Sohini Mandal completed her MBBS from Medical College, Kolkata. She pursued her MD and three years of senior residency training in Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery at the prestigious Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi, under the mentorship of Padmashree Prof. Jeewan S. Titiyal. During her senior residency, she was awarded the degree of FAICO in Refractive Surgery.
Her main areas of interest include laser vision correction procedures such as LASIK, PRK, and ICL, along with keratoconus, allergic eye diseases, collagen crosslinking, contact lenses, complicated cataract surgery, and various corneal transplant procedures. Keenly interested in academics and translational research, she has over 55 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has contributed 20 chapters to renowned postgraduate ophthalmology textbooks.
Apart from being an active reviewer for international journals, Dr. Sohini is also an Assistant Editor for the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology and serves on the Editorial Board of Ophthalmology and Therapy. She has received several prestigious awards, including the Travel Fellowship Grant at European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons in 2022, Best Free Paper in Cornea at All India Ophthalmological Society 2022, Best E-poster at Indian Society of Cornea and Kerato-Refractive Surgeons 2022, Best Senior Resident Award in 2023 from AIIMS, New Delhi, and Best E-poster Award at Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons 2025. She was also conferred the International Ophthalmic Hero Award by AIOC in 2026 and has won several ophthalmic photography contests and quizzes.
