Biography
Dr Vivek Dave is the Head of the Anant Bajaj Retina Institute at L V Prasad Eye Institute. He completed his primary medical education at Seth G S Medical College, Mumbai, followed by an MD in Ophthalmology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
He is a Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in ophthalmology, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology, and a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences. He further pursued a fellowship in vitreoretinal services at LVPEI and served as a Senior Registrar for glaucoma services at AIIMS.
Dr Dave is a mentor faculty for ORBIS CyberSight and a leadership development program mentor for the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. He also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in Rochester, USA.
He is on the editorial board of reputed journals like Seminars in Ophthalmology, the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, and the British Medical Journal’s BMC Ophthalmology. He is also an Associate Board Member of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology’s Congress Committee, a Board Member of the Asia Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society, the International Society of Ocular Trauma, and the Club Jules Gonin.
Dr Dave has received numerous national and international awards from the Uveitis Society of India, the All India Ophthalmological Society, the Vitreoretinal Society of India, the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Asia Pacific Vitreoretinal Society. One of his most notable honors is the Namperumalsamy Young Researcher Award in 2021 from the Vitreoretinal Society of India.
He is actively involved in research, serving as a clinical investigator in six clinical trials, and has received two competitive research grants. He has delivered over 200 podium presentations and lectures and has 142 peer-reviewed scientific international research publications to his credit.
Dr Dave’s surgical expertise lies in vitreoretinal diseases like complex vitreoretinal surgery, retinal trauma, diabetic eye surgeries, endoscopic vitreoretinal surgery, and endophthalmitis management. Beyond his professional commitments, he enjoys spending time with his family, nature, music, and learning concepts of Hinduism as a way of life.
