26th Secondary Eye Care Centre at Gudlavalleru

L V Prasad Eye Institute inaugurated the Jasti Subba Rao & Polavarapu Satyanarayanan Memorial Eye Centre on May 1, 2026, at Gudlavalleru in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. The centre was inaugurated by N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, along with Satya Kumar Yadav, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Located nearly 60 km from Vijayawada, the new facility is the 26th secondary eye care centre in the LVPEI network and the 13th in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is built on two acres of land with a total built-up area of 16,579 sq. ft. Equipped with modern medical infrastructure and staffed by a highly trained team, the centre aims to provide high-quality, equitable, and comprehensive eye care services to communities in the region, and eliminate avoidable blindness. Following the inauguration, dignitaries toured the facility.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gullapalli N Rao said, “This new centre in Gudlavalleru exemplifies our commitment to bringing world-class eye care to rural Andhra Pradesh, empowering communities to conquer avoidable blindness through accessible, equitable and innovative services.”

The Jasti Subba Rao & Polavarapu Satyanarayanan Memorial Eye Centre was established with the generous support of Mr Venkat Jasti, Founder and Chairman of Suven Life Sciences, a leading biopharmaceutical company focused on drug discovery and development, particularly in central nervous system (CNS) disorders. Mr Venkat Jasti also serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation.

Several senior LVPEI leaders attended the inauguration, including Dr Rohit Khanna, Director, – The Gullapalli Pratibha Rao International Centre for Advancement of Rural Eye Care, Dr Rajeev Reddy , Vice Chair – LVPEI, and Dr Varsha Rathi, Head of Clinical Activities – Secondary Eye Care Centres.
