CM Chandrababu Naidu Breaks Ground for LVPEI’s Amaravati Campus

Vijayawada, September 23, 2026:  Sri N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh broke ground for L V Prasad Eye Institute’s, Sudha & Venkat Jasti Campus at Amaravati, today. The Sudha & Venkat Jasti Campus at Abbarajupalem Village, Thullur Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, will house LVPEI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) and Eye Health Resource Centre, for the state.  The plan is for the CoE to be open for patient services by September 2027. It will have a total built up area of 800, 000 sq ft, over a 10-year period.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder Chair – LVPEI, Dr Prasahnt Garg, Executive Chair – LVPEI, senior members of the leadership team, alongside guests of honor, Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Member of Parliament – Guntur, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Government of India; Sri Kandula Durgesh, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Cinematography, Government of Andhra Pradesh and Incharge Minister of Guntur District; Sri Y Satya Kumar Yadav, Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Sri P Narayana,  Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Sri Tenali Sravan Kumar, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Tadikonda, Andhra Pradesh.

In the first phase, it will be developed as a tertiary eye care centre, with patient services open in 2027.  Institute for Vision Rehabilitation, Elderly Eye Care and Child Sight Institute will start operations in phase two. Phase three will see the introduction of Eye and Brain Institute, Education Academy and Community Eye Health.

Speaking at the event, Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder Chair – LVPEI, said: “Our vision is to create a Centre of Excellence that brings the highest standards of eye care closer to communities across the state, while also serving as a hub for education, research and innovation. Over the coming years, the campus will bring together specialized institutes that address the diverse and evolving eye health needs of people across the region. This is an important milestone in LVPEI’s commitment to building a comprehensive and equitable eye care ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh.”

Speaking at the event, Dr Prashant Garg, Executive Chair – LVPEI, said: “Amaravati is emerging as an important centre of growth and development in Andhra Pradesh, and we are privileged to contribute to this journey through the Sudha & Venkat Jasti Campus. It represents the next chapter in LVPEI’s journey of expanding access to specialized eye care, while strengthening the larger eye health ecosystem. The first phase will establish a tertiary eye care centre, providing patients with access to advanced clinical services closer to where they live. In the subsequent phases, the campus will bring together vision rehabilitation, elderly and child eye care, eye and brain health, education, research, and community eye health. With this integrated approach, we hope to create a centre that benefits communities across Andhra Pradesh and beyond.”
