LVPEI Celebrates 40 Years of Eye Care: Imtiaz Ali, K Ramakrishna Rao and Dr G N Rao Headline Foundation Day 2026

Published 6th November 2026

On October 17, 2026, L V Prasad Eye Institute marked its 40th Foundation Day at the Patodia Auditorium, Kallam Anji Reddy Campus, Banjara Hills. Colleagues, friends and well-wishers joined us in person and online for an evening of reflection, recognition and looking ahead. The program opened with a welcome by Dr Siddharth Dikshit and Dr Swathi Kaliki, who also compèred the evening.

Dr Gullapalli N Rao then took the audience through The Last 40 Years, followed by the unveiling of our 40th-year commemorative logo by Dr Prashant Garg and Dr Rao. A video of our campus heads, Values Across LVPEI, showed the principles that guide our work across every center.

Our Guest of Honor, acclaimed film director Mr Imtiaz Ali, shared his reflections. Mr K Ramakrishna Rao, Advisor and Ex-Officio Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister of Telangana, was introduced by Dr Rajeev Reddy and delivered the L V Prasad Eye Institute Oration 2026.

Dr Sayan Basu presented the Prof Krothapalli Ravindranath LVPEI Research and International Awards. The evening also saw the launch of Learn2Grow by Dr Avinash Pathengay and the presentation of a Redwood sapling by Mrs Vijaya Ramam. Dr Prashant Garg closed the program with LVPEI: Journey Towards the Golden Jubilee.

How do we tell the LVPEI story in 2026?

The evening also featured the premiere of our 40th-year commemorative film, A Road Less Travelled. The film is built around our core value, “Patient First”, and follows two fictionalized patients: one young, one more senior. One has a front-of-the-eye problem that only LVPEI can resolve, and the other a back-of-the-eye problem that we can help rehabilitate. Together they capture the spirit that makes LVPEI unique. The film is produced and directed by Arif Ali of Postcard Pictures, with generous support from Dr Pinnamaneni and Smt Seethadevi Foundation.

Watch Now: A Road Less Travelled

As we step into our fifth decade, we thank everyone whose support made these 40 years possible.
