The International Cell and Gene Therapy Conference is one of India’s oldest meetings on stem cells. At the 11th Edition, held at Christian Medical College-Vellore, Vikram Krishna received the Best Oral Presentation for his work titled ‘Generation of Human Corneal Epithelial Cells from Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells in Serum-Free and Feeder-Free Conditions in Chemically Defined [1]’.
His work aims to develop a serum-free and feeder-free, yet cost-effective differentiation protocol for these cells to reduce reliance on expensive commercial formulations and support future corneal cell therapies in India.
Vikram Krishna is a Junior Research Fellow at the Centre for Ocular Regeneration—Prof Brien Holden Eye Research Centre, and is mentored by Dr Vivek Singh.
