Over, 661,964 outpatient examinations and 62,218 surgeries have been performed at the centre till date. Of which, 36% of the examinations and 53% of the surgeries were done free of cost. Located at Tadigadapa, the centre offers comprehensive advanced tertiary eye care facility to people in Vijayawada and the adjoining areas.

“We are happy to share that LVPEI Vijayawada facility is now equipped to offer the best quality-specialized scleral lenses to its patients. Patients with advanced corneal eye problems such as dry eyes, post-LASIK dry eyes, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, keratoconus, corneal grafts, chemical and thermal burn injuries, regular contact lens users unhappy with their vision or people who are unable to see clearly despite glasses and surgery, hugely benefit from these lenses. Even a corneal transplant surgery, can be avoided in some cases with the use of these lenses. Larger in size compared to the regular contact lenses, they are custom made for each patient. For better comfort, visual outcome and long-term use, personalized training is provided to each patient on the use of these lenses", shares, Dr Sushank A Bhalerao, Cornea Consultant at LVPEI-Vijayawada.

In 2017, The BostonSight SCLERAL and PROSE lens manufacturing facility, in collaboration with Boston Foundation for Sight, USA, was inaugurated at LVPEI Hyderabad.
