Biography
Dr Sirisha Senthil is an eminent ophthalmologist with over 22 years of experience in the field of glaucoma. After completing an MS in Ophthalmology from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, she received a Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (FRCS) in Ophthalmology from Edinburgh.
She joined LVPEI in 2007 as faculty and quickly rose to the position of Head of the VST Centre for Glaucoma Care, a role she has held since 2012.
Specializing in managing refractory adult and pediatric glaucoma, Dr Senthil has cultivated a profound interest in glaucoma drainage implants, secondary glaucoma, and the genetics of inherited childhood glaucoma. Her commitment to advancing knowledge in the field is evident through her extensive research endeavours. She has published over 179 scientific papers in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and authored numerous book chapters.
Her contributions have earned her several accolades and awards both nationally and internationally, including the Dr Vengal Rao Medal in 2012, the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (IJO) Silver Award in 2016, and the prestigious American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Achievement Award in 2018.
A dedicated investigator for various studies, Dr Senthil’s expertise extends beyond academia. She is a frequent presenter at global conferences, where her insights and findings continue to enrich the Ophthalmological community.
