Biography

Dr Tapas Ranjan Padhi is a gold medalist in MS Ophthalmology from JIPMER, Pondhicherry, and completed a two-year fellowship in retina at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, followed by a research fellowship in pediatric retina, electrophysiology, and retinal dystrophy at the University of Michigan, USA.

He received the ARVO Collaborative Research Fellowship Award for 2014-15 and was a visiting scholar for pediatric retina at Associated Retina Consultants, Royal Oak, USA.

Dr Padhi has published more than 73 papers in peer-reviewed journals to his credit and has served as a principal and co-investigator in many multicentric randomized clinical trials. In 2015, he was honoured with the prestigious Biswambar Rajguru Oration Award by the Odisha State Ophthalmological Society.

His core areas of interest are Retinopathy of Prematurity and advanced vitreoretinal surgeries. He has been awarded the prestigious JM Pahwa award by the Vitreoretinal Society of India (2018) and the Col. Rangachari Award by the All India Ophthalmic Society, India (2021) for his work related to Retinopathy of Prematurity.

Dr Padhi heads the Electrophysiology Services across the LVPEI network and has been actively involved in research related to pediatric retina, electrophysiology, and retinal dystrophies.
