Biography
Vishal R Raval completed his primary medical education from Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj’s Medical College, Nasik, followed by his Diplomate of the National Board in ophthalmology from K J Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai.
He did a research cum vitreo-retinal fellowship from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, before joining LVPEI in 2013. He later did his international ophthalmic research fellowship in ocular oncology under the mentorship of Dr Arun Singh at Cole Eye Institute, USA.
Dr Raval has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented at various conferences. His areas of clinical interest are vitreoretinal diseases like diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and ocular oncology, including management of intraocular tumors, like retinoblastoma, choroidal melanoma & various other retinal & choroidal tumors. In the research front, he is keen on translational animal research in the field of ocular oncology, particularly retinoblastoma.
